Why Islam Needs A Reformation Now
review by Dale Brown
This is not a book written by an outsider. Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Somalia 1969 in a world of conflict. Her family fled to Kenya where she was schooled. Then they spent some time in Saudi Arabia and eventually ended up a refugee in the Netherlands in 1992 where she went to escape an arranged marriage contract her father had made. There she worked as a translator and furthered her education. Selling off daughters to Muslim men in non-Muslim countries in arranged marriages is deceptive way of making a link to a foreign country for the sake of chain migration.
In 2004 she worked with Theo van Gogh on his video Submission. Proof of her statement that "violence is inherent in Islam" van Gogh was shot eight times and his throat was cut by a faithful Muslim of Moroccan decent. A knife was used to attach a long threatening note to Theo's body.

During this time in the Netherlands she got some hands on experience in politics and an understanding of the western concept of free speech through men like Geert Wilders who is a powerful voice against Muslim intimidation. In 2006 Hirsi Ali moved to Washington D.C. to take a job at the American Enterprise Institute. She soon found that Muslim threats to free speech is very much alive in America as well, especially at our universities.
While exploring the utopian idea of Muslim reform one quickly discovers that it has been tried by many in the past with little success. Most reformers have been silenced and or fled into hiding while others stood their ground and were buried under it. Yet Hirsi Ali remains hopeful. She has five theses she hopes to be changed in order for Islam to continue in our modern society. They are: 1. Ensure that Muhammad and the Quran are open to interpretation and criticism. 2. Give priority to this life, not the afterlife. 3. Shackle sharia and end its supremacy over secular law. 4. End the practice of "commanding right, and forbidding wrong." 5. Abandon the call to jihad. Now given that Islam was supposedly revealed by God to Muhammad the perfect man, this has as much chance as a snowball in hell. Four main schools of Muslim jurisprudence confirm that Muslims must fight non-Muslims until they either convert, pay the dhimmi jizyah humiliation tax, or be killed, plain and simple. (Surah 9:29)
Like many who escape from a religious cult she has become an atheist. We can pray that God will reveal himself to her through the grace of his Son Jesus Christ.
There is much to be learned from her experience and she explains much of Muslim tradition and social life that would otherwise be foreign to a non-Muslim. Want to understand honor killing? Don't confuse it with domestic violence. Do the honorable thing and read the book.
