The seventy-five year old author of The Satanic Verses (1988) was about to give a talk when he was attacked by Muslim named Hati Matar with a knife (8/12/22) at least ten times thus proving the reason for his criticism of Islam.
The Quran reads, "So, when you meet those who disbelieve, smite their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them..." (Surah 47:4). One only needs to read chapter eight and nine of the Quran to see the violent nature of Muhammad and his religion. Muslims have been after Rushdie for decades but this 24 year old Hati Matar, who lived with his mother, slipped through security that obviously failed.
