Captain Bainbridge and Islam

Though Muslims were driven out of Spain in 1492 they did not disappear from the planet.  They continued to plague the Mediterranean with pirates from north Africa attacking ships and capturing slaves to sell on the Ottoman market.  They soon discovered that they could squeeze cash out America through the usual ransom routine as well.  At first America tried to buy them off but soon found there was never an end to it.  In 1783 a 300 ton American brig was captured along with its crew which inflamed the Americans back home when they were required to pay a ransom for its returned.  Meanwhile the barbary states were at work building a somewhat effective pirate navy with the funds they got from the infidel dogs.

In 1800 Captain William Bainbridge of the USS George Washington was forced by Algiers pirate leader Dey Mustapha to transport hundreds of black slaves to Istanbul under the black Islamic flag.  This was because America had fallen short of their tribute to Islamic pirates.  In 1801 Tripoli proclaimed jihad on the United States because we refused to pay any more jizya to safe guard our merchant ships in the Mediterranean from Muslim pirates.

This prompted America to build a navy of which sent six warships to battle the pirates beginning a war that lasted until 1805.

Excerpt from the Marine corps hymn. “From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli...”.

Despite what the previous president (Obama)may say about it, the shores of Tripoli does not refer to a beach party.  - Brian Johnson

An island near Seattle named after Captain Bainbridge has recently been shocked by this bit of history.  Some apparently only like history that is pleasing to the heart.
The Muslim pirates of north Africa were not totally arrested until 1859 when they were smashed into submission by Spain.

Was Muhammad a Whackadoodle?

Truly, when it was said to them: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah" they puffed them selves up with pride. And they said, "Are we going to abandon our gods for the sake of a mad poet?" (Surah 37:36, 52:29, 68:2).  The average person thought Muhammad was crazy.  In fact the Quran goes to great length to convince Muhammad's followers that he was sane.  "And, (O, people) your companion (Muhammad) is not a madman." (Surah 81:2)  How many biblical prophets had to convince their followers they were not crazy?  If someone is continually telling others they are not crazy that might give us reason for concern.

Moses and Khidir

The Dome of Al-Khidir
In one corner of the temple mount in Jerusalem lies a small obscure dome that is a memorial to a mystical character that appears nowhere in the Bible but in the Quran plays an interesting part in the life of Moses.  In Surah 18:65-78 this Khidir is a prophet that Moses followed for a time and supposedly learned something from the sinking of a ship and the killing of a young boy by Khidir.  Various legends have grown out of this.  Some have to do with water and boats, and others stem from the related Arabic word for green (khadra).  This has nothing to do with Islamic law but gives us a clue as to some of the stories Muhammad must have borrowed from early legends of his day.  Islam is quite a mixed bag of fantasy.

CAIR and Mexican Border

Muslim Facebook page pushes for anarchy on Mexican border.
What reason would Muslims encourage the invasion of illegal immigrants on our southern border unless their were Muslims coming in?  They certainly could care less about infidels or Hispanic Catholics who believe in the Trinity or the cross which they hate.
They say love "knows no borders" yet Muhammad's vision for the Arabian Peninsula was that it would be purged of all non-Muslims.  To this day no non-Muslims are allowed in Mecca.

Sin and the Crescent Moon

Quran Burning?

To burn or Not to burn
by Dale Brown

When Dove World Outreach placed a sign out in front of their church in Florida claiming that Islam was of the devil, they got a firestorm of criticism. Later they promoted the idea to burn a Quran on 9/11 in honor of those who perished when Muslims hijacked and crashed several planes killing thousands of innocent people in an act of jihad against America. Soon others followed in the Quran burning protest.

Criticism came from several camps. Some felt that it was out of line to offend the billion plus Muslims of the world with such an act, claiming it was not a Christian thing to do. Others thought that it would be better served to study the Quran to better answer the questions of the Muslim religion.
This can be addressed in a number of ways from the Bible. First, it is not totally unbiblical to burn cultic books. In Acts 19:19 numerous books were burned by new converts in renouncing their previous ties to occultic practices. This is common even today in helping prevent them from falling back into unhealthy beliefs. Some will argue that Islam is not magic or of the occult therefore this does not apply. Many Muslims however believe the Quran to have magical powers and Allah will chastise those who do not show respect for Mohammed's revelation.  In burning a Quran one makes a statement that they are not afraid of Allah because he is not the God of the Bible. In many cases people are not afraid of Allah, but they are terrorized of his followers however, who think they need to take matters into their own hands and act as Allah's little helpers. Many Christians have a similar view of the Bible, thinking that to mark or damage a Bible will bring God's judgment up them.

The story of Gideon is helpful in understanding the biblical view of God's perspective on honoring false gods. Gideon was instructed to tear down the altars of Baal and the Asherah (Judges 6:25-31). The followers of the cult were obviously offended and wanted his hide. Gideons father told the people that if Baal was truly God he could surely take care of himself. Let Baal contend for himself.
In dealing with the false religions under the law of Moses they were instructed not only to destroy the altars but to not bring any of the related loot into your house and thus be snared by it. "And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, and like it come under the ban; you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is something banned (Deu. 7:1-26). They were not to become linked to the cultists in marriage or business for fear of caving in to false religious beliefs.

The New Testament addresses this in a similar fashion. If someone comes to your house bringing some religion other than the gospel we are warned not to allow them into our house, and not to give them a greeting of friendship (2 John 7-10). This serves two purposes; one in which a statement is made to the false teacher that he needs to repent. Secondly, the person is protecting his own household from false religion. Now the argument can be made that it might be more productive to invite the person in and try to reason with them and convert them to the truth. This however is only for those who are adequately equipped for theological debate. The average person is likely to be left confused and overwhelmed by the arguments of the cultists.  So, into the fireplace with the cultic literature.

Mosque in Rome

Churches are banned in Saudi Arabia but now the Mosque of Rome, with an area of 30,000 m², is the largest mosque in Europe and can accommodate twelve thousand people. According to Wikipedia the mosque was jointly founded by the exiled Prince Muhammad Hasan of Afghanistan and his wife, Princess Razia Begum and was financed by Faisal of Saudi Arabia, head of the Saudi royal family, as well as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The project was designed and directed by Paolo PortoghesiVittorio Gigliotti and Sami Mousawi. Its construction took more than ten years: the Roman City Council donated the land in 1974, but the first stone was not laid for another ten years, in 1984 (1405 AH), in the presence of then President of the Italian Republic Sandro Pertini, with its inauguration on June 21, 1995.
This appears to be a Trojan horse in Rome. Sandro Magister reported that the imam who preaches the "khutba" there every Friday was sent by the theologians of the Al Azhar university in Cairo, the most authoritative university in the Muslim world. And the things said in the Rome mosque are no small matter. The sermon of June 6, 2003, culminated with the following invocations, interspersed with the "Amen"s of the congregation:"O Allah, grant victory to the Islamic fighters in Palestine, Chechnya, and elsewhere in the world! O Allah, destroy the homes of the enemies of Islam! O Allah, help us to annihilate the enemies of Islam! O Allah, make firm everywhere the voice of the nation of Islam!"
