Quran Burning?
To burn or Not to burn
by Dale Brown
When Dove World Outreach placed a sign out in front of their church in Florida claiming that Islam was of the devil, they got a firestorm of criticism. Later they promoted the idea to burn a Quran on 9/11 in honor of those who perished when Muslims hijacked and crashed several planes killing thousands of innocent people in an act of jihad against America. Soon others followed in the Quran burning protest.
Criticism came from several camps. Some felt that it was out of line to offend the billion plus Muslims of the world with such an act, claiming it was not a Christian thing to do. Others thought that it would be better served to study the Quran to better answer the questions of the Muslim religion.
The story of Gideon is helpful in understanding the biblical view of God's perspective on honoring false gods. Gideon was instructed to tear down the altars of Baal and the Asherah (Judges 6:25-31). The followers of the cult were obviously offended and wanted his hide. Gideons father told the people that if Baal was truly God he could surely take care of himself. Let Baal contend for himself.
The New Testament addresses this in a similar fashion. If someone comes to your house bringing some religion other than the gospel we are warned not to allow them into our house, and not to give them a greeting of friendship (2 John 7-10). This serves two purposes; one in which a statement is made to the false teacher that he needs to repent. Secondly, the person is protecting his own household from false religion. Now the argument can be made that it might be more productive to invite the person in and try to reason with them and convert them to the truth. This however is only for those who are adequately equipped for theological debate. The average person is likely to be left confused and overwhelmed by the arguments of the cultists. So, into the fireplace with the cultic literature.

This can be addressed in a number of ways from the Bible. First, it is not totally unbiblical to burn cultic books. In Acts 19:19 numerous books were burned by new converts in renouncing their previous ties to occultic practices. This is common even today in helping prevent them from falling back into unhealthy beliefs. Some will argue that Islam is not magic or of the occult therefore this does not apply. Many Muslims however believe the Quran to have magical powers and Allah will chastise those who do not show respect for Mohammed's revelation. In burning a Quran one makes a statement that they are not afraid of Allah because he is not the God of the Bible. In many cases people are not afraid of Allah, but they are terrorized of his followers however, who think they need to take matters into their own hands and act as Allah's little helpers. Many Christians have a similar view of the Bible, thinking that to mark or damage a Bible will bring God's judgment up them.
The story of Gideon is helpful in understanding the biblical view of God's perspective on honoring false gods. Gideon was instructed to tear down the altars of Baal and the Asherah (Judges 6:25-31). In dealing with the false religions under the law of Moses they were instructed not only to destroy the altars but to not bring any of the related loot into your house and thus be snared by it. "And you shall not bring an abomination into your house, and like it come under the ban; you shall utterly detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is something banned (Deu. 7:1-26). They were not to become linked to the cultists in marriage or business for fear of caving in to false religious beliefs.

Mosque in Rome
Churches are banned in Saudi Arabia but now the Mosque of Rome, with an area of 30,000 m², is the largest mosque in Europe and can accommodate twelve thousand people. According to Wikipedia the mosque was jointly founded by the exiled Prince Muhammad Hasan of Afghanistan and his wife, Princess Razia Begum and was financed by Faisal of Saudi Arabia, head of the Saudi royal family, as well as Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The project was designed and directed by Paolo Portoghesi, Vittorio Gigliotti and Sami Mousawi. Its construction took more than ten years: the Roman City Council donated the land in 1974, but the first stone was not laid for another ten years, in 1984 (1405 AH), in the presence of then President of the Italian Republic Sandro Pertini, with its inauguration on June 21, 1995.
This appears to be a Trojan horse in Rome. Sandro Magister reported that the imam who preaches the "khutba" there every Friday was sent by the theologians of the Al Azhar university in Cairo, the most authoritative university in the Muslim world. And the things said in the Rome mosque are no small matter. The sermon of June 6, 2003, culminated with the following invocations, interspersed with the "Amen"s of the congregation:"O Allah, grant victory to the Islamic fighters in Palestine, Chechnya, and elsewhere in the world! O Allah, destroy the homes of the enemies of Islam! O Allah, help us to annihilate the enemies of Islam! O Allah, make firm everywhere the voice of the nation of Islam!"
MUSLIM BLACKS & SLAVERY
Black is not Always Beautiful
The Interpretation of the Noble Qur’an endorsed by the Saudi Chief Justice might be a difficult pill for American blacks to swallow if they read it objectively. It’s describes judgment day in ethnic terms. "So on that Day no question will be asked of man or jinni as to his sin [because they have already been known from their faces either white (dwellers of Paradise — true believers of Islamic Monotheism) or black (dwellers of Hell — polytheists, disbelievers, criminals)]. The Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners) will be known by their marks (black faces), and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet." (see Surah 39:60, 55:39)
Thinking that Christianity is a white man’s religion some Black Muslims have a twisted understanding of slavery in the Muslim world. Mohammed clearly allowed slavery and took women "whom your right hand possesses" (Surah 33:50) in addition to his wives for sex. Muslims in many countries have taken part in the slave trade. As a matter of fact, Saudi Arabia, the home of the Grand Mosque and Qa’ba of Mecca, continued slavery as a common practice until it was abolished in 1962. Though the African country of Mauritania, because of global political pressure, outlawed slavery in 1980, many Arab masters, still hold black slaves. It is not merely a sin of white Christian culture. Temptation to capitalize on the benefits of cheap labor is as broad as humanity itself. Even certain American Indian tribes were known to capture members of other clans. Human nature is not necessarily dictated by the color of our skin.

Allah's 99 names?
As with the Hebrew Bible the Qur’an calls God by many descriptive names; "The Mighty", "The First", "The Last", "the Merciful One", Etc. The Qur’an cites ninety-nine names of Allah which are descriptive of his character and holiness etc. Some of these titles are listed in Surah 59:23,24. They are often recited while fingering the ninety-nine worry-beads of the Muslim rosary.
A tract entitled Concept of God in Islam published by the Muslim proselytizing group WAMY makes the claim that Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and a sister language of Arabic. This is simply not true. An Aramaic dictionary will show that there were many names used for God in the Jewish Tenach. El, Elohim, Eloah were general terms for the Deity, even used for false gods. We see it linked with other Jewish words such as Israel, Michael, Daniel etc. Yahweh (Jehovah in Latin) is the common pronunciation of the tetragammaton (YHWH) or "I AM". Adonai (Lord) became the most common word used in reference to the God of Israel because of fear of taking the name YHWH in vain. Allah is nowhere to be found. Muslims speak much of the 99 names of God, however El is never mentioned. Even when words like Jibrail (Gabrael) and Israel appear in the Qur’an they conveniently avoid referring to the obvious connection to the God (El) of the Jews. We might wonder why Israel in the Qur'an is not Isra-allah, or Jibrail is not Jibra-allah.
It seems quite clear that the Arabic word Allah was linked to ancient pagan deities of pre-Islam. Modern Muslims however are quick to dismiss such connections. It is claimed by some that Allah is the God Arabic-speaking Christians worship and that Allah is nothing other than a generic word for God such as the French Dieu, or the Spanish Dios. It seems rather odd that a true Christian would even consider Jesus to be the Son of a Pagan deity, yet that is what the modern Arabic Bible implies. In a tract distributed by WAMY it is claimed Allah is the personal name of God in Aramaic, the language of Jesus and a sister language of Arabic. This is simply dishonest. The sister language statement is correct but any person with a simple Strongs Concordance can look in its Aramaic dictionary to get the truth about the many words used for the God of the Hebrews. Many English versions of the Qur’an translate the name simply "God." The question then lies in whether God looks beyond the technical data of history and looks at the intent of the human heart. I would suggest that the heart is more important on the surface of the argument but one must take a serious look at the nature of the God that Islam represents. Notice that Jews in Jerusalem are not facing Mecca when they pray. Neither did Jesus. The thought of Jesus calling God his father is repulsive to a Muslim because they cannot comprehend that kind of relationship with the divine.

Mohammed's 7 Sleepers
There is a legend that claims that in about 250 AD seven Christians were commanded to renounce their faith during the persecution of Decius. They went into a cave near Tarsus where they were sealed in by some large stones. Two hundred years later the entrance was reopened and these seven fellows awoke as though it had been only a day. When one of them tried spending some of his ancient pocket change he became a public figure and was questioned by the local priest regarding this miraculous resurrection. Then strangely enough all seven fell asleep again. There are at least three caves claiming to be the historical location of this strange event. One is in Ephesus, and Mark Twain visited it in 1867 and wrote of what was then considered the authentic story of the lads who fell asleep after drinking some sort of strong drink. Another is in Tarsus and the other one in Amman, Jordan. The Muslims have built a mosque over the cave in Tarsus while yet claiming the cave in Jordan to be the authentic one. The Qur’an has a chapter entitled Al-Kahf (The Cave, Surah 18) giving glory to this myth, however it adds a dog to the number of the seven sleepers and claims the seven men were being persecuted for Tawhid (their devotion to one God, Allah). Mohammed had some problems getting some of these stories straight. So, please don't confuse us with the facts. Mohammed was a prophet after all.
This is typical of Islam which has a history of making claim to various legends and sites. On Mount Sinai (Gebel Mousa) where Moses is supposed to have received the ten commandments next to the Christian chapel sits a small Muslim mosque where they claim Mohammed stopped for a moment on a night-long journey from Mecca to Ararat. They make claim to a footprint of the prophet's flying camel, Burack, on a rock there. This is similar to the claims made of a print on rock in Jerusalem where they have built the famous Dome of the Rock. There are several sites claiming to be the tomb of the prophet Daniel where they have built mosques. One is in Tarsus, Turkey, another in Kirkuk, Iraq. Muslims in Susa Iran, Samarkand Kzbekistan, Muqdadiyah Iraq, Mala Amir Kurdistan in Iran make similar claims.
Muslims elevate books and stories that are loaded with errors, yet reject the Bible because they claim it is not reliable. This all seems rather prejudicial but this is the mind of Islam. Given the fact that the Qur’an claims that the Scripture, both the Torah and the Gospel, revealed God’s truth and no one can change His Words, it is rather strange that the same book claims that all Scripture prior to the Qur’an has been changed (Surah 6:115).

Muslim Abrogation
Abrogation in the Qur’an, that is, the ability for Allah to change his mind and reveal a contradictory principle to his
followers is common and not to be questioned. "Whatever a verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things?" "And when We change a verse (of the Qur’an) in place of another — and Allah knows best what he sends down — They (the disbelievers) say: ’You (O Muhammad) are but a Muftari! (forger, liar).’ Nay, but most of them know not." (Surah 2:106, 16:101)
This presents Allah as a God of contradictions thus making it easy for those reading the Qur’an to find nearly anything in it to justify whatever view fits with the present situation, especially in regards to fighting or punishing the infidel. If one wants to apply a principle it only requires finding the appropriate surah, preferably a most recent one that will trump an earlier revelation. Chapter 9 (Repentance) which has the most militant views about jihad is commonly understood to be of a later date in the process of revelation to Mohammed. By abrogation the Muslim is able to write off every Bible verse that contradicts the Quran.
According to the Qur’an the Muslim is considered free of all obligations and treaties made with Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) (Sura 9:1). And they wonder why westerners do not trust them. The Saudi flag, sporting its white sword on a holy field of green does not portray a very peaceful image. I wonder what the world would think if the United States flag had an image of an atomic mushroom cloud in a field of stars and stripes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbT-1inFxZY

Muslim Baptism, which Jesus?
Opening to Surah 2:138 in the Quran shown above I read "(Our religion is) the Baptism of Allah..." This translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali is very misleading because Muslims don't do baptisms and you don't see this in other translations of the Quran. But this appeases the naive Christian who thinks in these terms however. This is pure poppycock being sent out by ISLAMICITY (non profit), Culver City, CA.

Moderate liars!
Moderate liars!
If Muslims love Jesus why do they hate the cross and refuse to be baptized in his name? The same Jesus that healed the sick could also forgive sins. This Muhammad could not do. There were those during the time of Christ that asked, "who can forgive sins but God alone?" (Mark 2:6-11) Jesus said, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning me?" And the Jews answered him, "For a good work we do not stone you, but for blasphemy; because you being a man make yourself out to be God." (John 10:31-33) Though many Jews understood who he was and became his disciples, there were many who did not. They could not understand that not only was Jesus the son of man, he was also the Son of God who came to be the sacrificial lamb. When Israel rejected him as their messiah they set about the time for their judgment when their temple would be leveled and the would be scattered throughout the world until the end of the age of he Gentiles. (Luke 21:20-24)

Muslims play the Victim card
Playing the victim is a common way of introducing cultural jihad in the west by CAIR. In the public schools using the "bully" buzz word quickly rallies a hedge of protection. The Muslim cult has found this to be one of their favorite methods of neutralizing critical thinking about Muhammad's little followers.
