Al-Maghrib and ILMFest

Muslims held an IlmFest at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington January 11, 2015. This was an effort of the AlMaghrib Institute of Houston, Texas to promote Islam and defuse criticism of their faith, lead by Shaykh Waleed Basyouni and Shaykh Yasir Qadhi and many other speakers with degrees from universities in Saudi Arabia. Al-Maghrib (an Arabic term for the west, once described North Africa, the Moors) has a history of Wahhabi extremism and connection to the Muslim Brotherhood through Al-Ahzar University in Cairo, according to Frontpage Magazine. Its founder, Muhammead Alshreef, a Canadian, was educated in Saudi Arabia at the University of Medina and has a degree in shari'a.

Yasir Qadhi teaches in the Religion Studies Department of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and can be found on Youtube desperately trying to explain away the crisis of faith many young Muslims are having in view of all the publicity Islam is getting as a result of worldwide terrorism. He made a name for himself in a tirade he made regarding the television special entitled Undercover Mosque in which the teaching of many extremists in the UK were secretly videotaped and aired. Qadhi has taught curriculum speaking loudly against Sufi Muslims and Al-Maghrib has not been shy about their disdain for Jews and the Christian Kufar as well. According to an article by Patrick Poole, Al-Maghrib, is known for teaching holocaust denial and jihad and they have blamed the supposed Jewish media for many of their woes, while spreading their ideological cancer through lectures on the internet and in mosques around the world.
